Chronic Illness & Invisible Disability Therapy in Los Angeles and Online Throughout California
Why therapy matters when you're living with chronic illness or an invisible disability
Living with a condition that doesn't go away, or one that other people can't see, takes a toll that goes far beyond the physical. You might be tired of explaining yourself, tired of hearing "but you look fine," or tired of grieving the plans and version of life you thought you'd have. Many people also carry anxiety about the future, frustration with medical systems, or guilt about needing help. Therapy gives you a place where you don't have to prove anything. It's a space to be honest about how hard this is, make room for the grief and anger, and find ways to live well alongside your health instead of feeling like your life is on hold.

In individual therapy, you get one-on-one time with a therapist who's focused completely on you. Together, we'll work through whatever is weighing on you, whether that's anxiety, depression, trauma, a big life change, or something you can't quite put into words yet. You'll gain a better understanding of yourself, learn practical tools for handling stress and difficult emotions, and build the confidence to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

When one partner is living with a chronic illness or invisible disability, it affects both people and the relationship as a whole. Roles can shift, plans change, and it's easy for resentment, guilt, or loneliness to creep in, even when you love each other deeply. In couples therapy, we help you talk openly about what each of you is carrying, understand each other's needs without blame, and find new ways to share responsibilities, stay connected, and keep intimacy alive. Together, you'll learn how to face the challenges as a team instead of letting them pull you apart.

Living with a chronic illness or invisible disability can feel isolating, especially when the people around you don't fully understand what it's like. In our groups, you'll connect with others who get it without needing an explanation. It's a space to share the frustrations, swap tips for managing hard days, talk through the grief and the small wins, and remind each other that you're not alone in this. Many people find that being truly understood by others who live it brings a kind of relief that's hard to find anywhere else.
How We Help
We meet you exactly where you are, on good days and hard ones. Living with a chronic illness, chronic pain, or an invisible condition like fibromyalgia, lupus, MS, POTS, or long COVID can take a serious toll on your mental health, and that part deserves just as much care as the physical symptoms. Your therapist will help you process grief, loss of identity, and the emotional weight of an unpredictable body. Together you’ll work on setting boundaries without guilt, communicating your needs to partners, family, and caregivers, and managing the anxiety, depression, and stress that so often accompany ongoing symptoms.
We also help with the practical realities of life with chronic illness, including pacing your energy, adjusting expectations without abandoning your goals, coping with medical trauma or dismissive healthcare experiences, and rebuilding a sense of self when your body has changed. Whether you’re newly diagnosed and still trying to make sense of everything, or years in and just exhausted, therapy can be a space to finally feel heard and understood.
Because all sessions are fully online, available in both English and Spanish, you can join from bed, the couch, your car, or wherever you’re most comfortable that day. There’s no commute, no waiting room, no having to explain why you look fine. You never have to choose between your health and getting the support you deserve.
